Each month's venue is always a different and exciting bar along Melbourne's hidden laneways, so don't forget to join our Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7968747375) and be the first to know when each month's venue is revealed! April's event was held at the Golden Monkey, Bar of the Year 2007. There were professionals from a variety of industries, including pharmaceutical, IT, banking, marketing, finance, law and motor vehicles. Current students also came to meet with alumni that are working in their fields of study. People came and went, with the night ending happily at Cho Gao around 10pm. This forum allows students from schools all over Melbourne (and for the first time this year, from all over Victoria) to come and spend a day at Monash and experience a little of University life. The students attend a series of short lectures focusing on a topical issue in the morning, and in the afternoon attend workshops which allow them to present their own views on the issue. This year, the theme surrounds terrorism and how it has affected our society.The forum is planned for Wednesday 25th June, which is in the final week of the school term. We aim to have in the order of 100 Year 12 students attending, with four lectures given by speakers from Monash University and elsewhere. We need members to join the subcommittee to help out with planning of the event as well as assisting on the day.
